Storytelling Photography Across South Florida
Your family, as you are.
Storytelling family photography preserves the connections and small details that make this season yours. Instead of building the whole session around everyone looking at the camera, we make space for reading together, playing, cuddling and moving through familiar places. Gentle direction helps you feel comfortable while the photographs remain centered on your real relationships.
A story rather than a performance.
Traditional portraits often begin with a specific pose. Documentary photography generally observes without direction. My storytelling approach leaves room for natural moments and offers guidance when it helps: where the light is softer, how to settle together or an activity that feels familiar. Children do not need to produce a smile on cue.
Ordinary days and important chapters.
A slow morning at home can be as meaningful as a birthday or reunion. Tell me what your children love, the habits you hope you never forget and who belongs in the story. For grandparents or extended family, we can discuss the people, group size, pace and accessibility needs before choosing the right session.
A setting that belongs to you.
I photograph families in Miami-Dade and nearby South Florida communities. Home can offer privacy, familiar toys and an easy place for breaks. An outdoor setting can give children space to explore. Share your exact location and travel plans so we can confirm availability, travel arrangements and a setting that suits the family. Meet Valeria
I’m Valeria Kuzmina, a Miami home photographer. I’m drawn to the character of children, family habits and everyday moments that can otherwise pass unnoticed. My photographs tell cozy family stories rather than asking every family to fit the same picture. Read more about my approach or plan your family session.
What a Storytelling Family Session Feels Like
Before the session: tell me your story.
Share your children’s ages, who will join and the moments you want to remember. We can start with a simple activity your family already enjoys rather than planning a performance. Look through the family portfolio to see whether this natural, connection-led approach feels right for you.
Choose your setting and light.
For an indoor session, we discuss when natural light is strongest in your home. Outdoor booking guidance recommends approximately two hours after sunrise or before sunset. South Florida heat, humidity, showers and changing daylight all matter, as do naps and travel time. Discuss alternatives and rescheduling terms before booking; specific weather or dates cannot be guaranteed.
During the session: guidance, play and pauses.
You will receive gentle prompts and practical direction, with room for genuine interaction. A shy child can stay close to a parent; an energetic child can move and explore. Bring water, a simple snack if appropriate and anything that helps your child feel comfortable. Choose coordinated clothes you can sit, walk and play in.
Your package and next steps.
The current Family Storytelling session is $650 for 1.5–2 hours, with 80–120 photographs with color correction. View current pricing and availability and confirm the session location, group needs, travel arrangements, delivery timing and any artwork options. These details should be clear before you reserve.
South Florida Family Photography FAQs
What is storytelling family photography?
It is a connection-led approach that preserves your family’s personalities, routines and relationships. Gentle guidance and real interaction work together; everyone does not need to look at the camera in every photograph.
Do we need a special occasion?
No. Reading on the sofa, playing together or spending an ordinary afternoon at home can become the story. Birthdays and reunions are also possibilities; discuss the occasion and group needs before choosing a package.
Can you help us choose a location?
Yes. We discuss your family’s interests, light, comfort and travel needs. Home and outdoor sessions offer different experiences. Share the exact South Florida location so coverage, access and travel arrangements can be confirmed.
What if my children are shy or energetic?
Both are welcome. Quiet time with a parent, gentle prompts, movement and breaks allow room for different personalities. There is no need to force a smile or expect a child to pose throughout the session.
Can grandparents and extended family participate?
Tell me who you would like included and any mobility or timing needs. We can discuss group size, the setting and whether the chosen package suits your plans before reserving.
How much does a storytelling session cost?
The current Family Storytelling session is $650 for 1.5–2 hours, with 80–120 photographs with color correction. See the booking page for current terms and availability.
What happens if the weather changes?
For outdoor sessions, we discuss conditions, comfort and possible alternatives. Confirm rescheduling terms at booking and leave flexibility when traveling. An indoor option requires a suitable agreed setting; it is not an automatic guarantee.
